Frequently
Asked Questions
Q:
Is Chocolate River Rescue a true
story?
A: Chocolate River Rescue is a work of FICTION. The characters are made up entirely out of my imagination. However, the idea for the book was inspired by a number of real-life emergencies and rescues that took place on the Petitcodiac River over the years. There was, in particular, one incident in the 1980’s during which three teen-age boys did become stranded on an ice-floe and were rescued by fire-fighters in a zodiac raft before being air-lifted to safety by a Search and Rescue helicopter. Miraculously, all three boys and their rescuers survived. I am indebted to Fire Chief Doug Hamer of Riverview Fire & Rescue who first told me the details of that particular rescue effort, in which he was a participant.
Q:
Are they going to make a movie of Chocolate
River Rescue?
A: I don’t know, but it sounds like a good idea to me! If you know any movie producers, feel free to send them a letter and let them know how you feel! J
Q:
How long does it take you to write a book?
A: It depends on the book but Chocolate River Rescue and White Cave Escape both took about a year, from start to finish…there were many rough drafts and re-writes!
Q:
Are you going to write more books about Shawn, Craig, Tony and Petra?
A: You bet!
